Community Involvement Awards 2007
At the firm’s town hall meeting on September 19, 2007, SMITH BIGMAN BROCK presented its third annual award for outstanding Community Involvement. The award recipient was peer nominated for the volunteer work that she has participated in during the past year, above and beyond those events sponsored directly by the firm.
Sheila & Jamie Semanisin
Sheila Semanisin, secretary, received the 2007 award for her community volunteerism. She has committed herself to raising awareness and fund raising to help pay for research, medical treatment and hopefully find a cure for cancer. Sheila is typically a quiet person, but if you get her on the subject of the fight against cancer, she really lights up. Sheila is filled with spirit and passion for this cause. In October of 2006 Sheila participated in Breast Cancer Awareness Month by seeking contributions for The Komen Foundation’s Passionately Pink for the Cure fundraiser. There were pink wrist bands being worn by the majority of our staff in support of the fight against breast cancer, thanks to Sheila. Later that month she lead the firm sponsored team in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk-a-thon. She lead her team in participating in what turned out to be the largest local fundraising effort for this cause. Sheila has earned this recognition for all of her hard work, fighting spirit, and efforts to share her passion for this cause throughout the firm and the community at large.
