Community Involvement Awards 2006
Second Annual Community Involvement Awards Ceremony
On September 28, 2006, Smith, Stout, Bigman & Brock, P.A. presented awards for outstanding Community Involvement. The award recipients were peer nominated for the volunteer work that they have participated in during the past year, above and beyond those events sponsored directly by the firm.
Julie Ozburn, Associate Attorney, received an award for her community volunteerism. She has consistently supported and assisted in numerous activities throughout the community sponsored by the Rotary Club of Daytona Beach West. Ms. Ozburn took an active role in the designation and use of a safe room in the courthouse in which children can safely engage in play while Dependency Court is in session. She continues to support the acquisition and donation of toys, small furniture items and other accoutrements necessary to allow the room to serve its purpose. Each year she spearheads the firm’s program for gathering and distributing Thanksgiving baskets to families who would otherwise face a bleak holiday. During the Christmas holidays she works to gather gifts for needy families at DCF, ensuring that more than 100 families, especially the children, have gifts at Christmas.
Aletha Brown-Hall, Paralegal, received an award for her community volunteerism. The community activities Ms. Hall is involved in include the Thanksgiving Basket Brigade. Just prior to Thanksgiving in 2005 Ms. Hall and her son delivered a van full of baskets filled with all the essentials for Thanksgiving dinner to families in need in the Bunnell area. Ms. Hall has provided enthusiastic assistance with nearly every committee function sponsored by the firm to promote good will in our community.
Both Ms. Ozburn and Ms. Hall received an engraved award and monetary gift to express our appreciation of their efforts and promote their future activities in our community. At Smith, Stout, Bigman & Brock, P.A., we are privileged and proud to work with people of this caliber.
