Biography

Kelsey Hansen-Walter is an associate attorney in the Insurance Defense practice group at Smith Bigman Brock. She graduated from Queens University of Charlotte with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Policital Science in 2012. After college Kelsey taught Science at Yap High School in the Federated States of Micronesia for two years. In 2017 she earned a Master of Arts in Global Sustainability from the Patel College of Global Sustainability at the University of South Florida. Prior to and while earning her Masters degree, Kelsy began working as Education and Environmental Programs Associate at the Daytona Beach Museum of Arts and Sciences. Throughout this time, Kelsey completed the Florida Master Naturalist Program through the University of Florida and has volunteered as a member of the Friends of Volusia Florida Master Naturalist, a local group promoting awareness, understanding, and respect of Florida's unique ecosystems and wildlife. She completed two legal internships during law school and worked as a paralegal and law clerk for Smith Bigman Brock. She also volunteered with the Cap Canaveral Turtle Monitoring Program. Kelsey earned her Juris Doctorate from the Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, Barry University in 2023. Kelsey participated in the Environmental and Earth Law Clinic during her second and third years of law school and she was the Earth Law and Policy Fellow with the Center for Earth Jurisprudence. Her academic pursuits, prior legal experience, and volunteer activities provide meaningful depth and breadth of knowledge and represent the commitment to excellence that our firm is founded upon and continues to strive for every day, with every client. She is a valued addition to our legal team.
